The Greater West Family Law Practitioners Association Inc (GWFLPA) was formed to provide a supportive network for judicial, legal, paralegal, social science, and finance professionals practising Law in Greater Western Sydney and Central West regions. Our mission is to promote discussion, provide professional development, and represent the interests of our members.
OUR OBJECTIVES
to promote discussion and exchange of ideas in relation to the practice of Family Law
to provide a means of practitioners networking and interacting – especially those practising in Greater Western Sydney and in the Central West / Orange regional areas
to represent the interests of Family Law practitioners to government and other organisations;
to provide professional development, mentoring and support as required to practitioners, particularly to new graduates and those who are new to Family Law.
BECOMING A MEMBER
The Greater West Family Law Practitioners Association exists to benefit members, and offers the following services to members:
Access to high quality CLE events and papers (around 10 each year, free of charge to members) / Access to a peer support network
GWFLPA hosts social and CLE events throughout the year, both in Sydney and regionally. These events provide members with:

Members can maintain their skills and industry knowledge with our “Twilight Seminar Series” CLE program.
An opportunity to meet with other practitioners and professionals
A forum to share news and views
A platform to develop professional relationships.

The Latest News from GWFLPA
Our next event will take place on 15 September 2026 and will focus on a topic of importance: How Criminal Law and Family Law Collide. This topic will be presented in 3 separate sessions and will offer the opportunity for participants to share their experiences and learn practical insights and strategies to help navigate everyday practice. The first module will cover the basics of criminal law. The topic is presented by Joel Brook, Barrister, 5 Wentworth Chambers.

Location: Offices of Coleman Greig Lawyers – Level 15/32 Smith Street, Parramatta NSW 2150
Time: 5:45pm arrival for 6pm start
Duration: 40 to 60 minutes with opportunities for socialising before and after the event.
